R3NE Documentation

Welcome

R3NE is a reactive node engine for real-time VFX on Apple Silicon. Build graphs of GPU-compiled nodes, drive them with any LLM through MCP, and send the result out over NDI or Syphon.

These docs cover everything from your first graph to writing custom Metal shaders and wiring R3NE up to a model context protocol client. They are a work in progress alongside the public beta, pages marked as drafts will fill in over the coming weeks.

Start here

  • Quickstart, install R3NE and route your first source to a Syphon output in under five minutes.
  • Nodes, the catalog of built-in sources, effects, composites and outputs.
  • Shaders, write Metal Shading Language and load it as a live node.

Integrations

  • MCP, let Claude or any MCP-compatible model edit your graph in natural language.
  • NDI & Syphon, push frames to Resolume, OBS, MadMapper, TouchDesigner, or any other show environment.
These docs are in active development. Found a gap or a typo? Reply to the beta thread or ping us via the waitlist form, feedback shapes what gets written next.
